Notices to 151 Mumbai buildings over fire safety in 6 months
The recent fire in Jivesh Terrace at Bandra Bandstand, where the firefighting system was non-functional, has raised fresh questions over fire safety of highrises. According to latest data from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, of the 329 buildings which were randomly inspected between November 2021 and April 2022, 151 buildings were issued notices for non-compliance with fire safety measures.

Maharashtra govt returns Rs 150 crore to railway development body's kitty
In a major relief to the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC), which is reeling under financial strains because of non-payment of dues by the state government, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has paid it Rs 150 crore which will help the railway development body tide over financial crisis till July 2022. MRVC is a 50:50 joint venture between the Maharashtra government and the ministry of railways. The cost of various projects is borne equally by both while funds for the projects executed by MRVC are released by MMRDA and Cidco. READ MORE
