Nurse molested, thrashed on busy road

Rajkot: A man was arrested for allegedly molesting and assaulting a woman in full public view on Manhar plot main road on Tuesday. The man identified as Bhavesh Jariya (45) was caught by the passers-by and handed over to the police. The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera.
According to police, the victim is a nurse working with a private hospital in Manhar plot area. She was returning home after finishing her duty. The CCTV footage shows that as the woman was walking along the road, the accused Jariya was coming from the opposite side.
When the woman crossed the road to enter a lane, Jariya followed her and stopped her. When the woman tried to dodge him, Jariya followed her and caught her by the throat. He then started hitting her mercilessly. First, he slapped her and then punched her even as she tried to stop him.
A scooter rider stopped in the middle of the road and held Jariya’s hand. But the accused hit him too. Soon an auto driver intervened and beat Jariya with a stick before handing him over to the police.
C G Joshi, police inspector of A division police station said, “When the passers-by were trying to overpower the accused, the nurse who was traumatized disappeared. We found her and she registered a complaint of assault and molestation under IPC section 354 (D) against Jariya.”
