Amaravati: Affirming that the government is determined to crackdown on the mafia behind mass copying and malpractices, state government advisor (public affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said that they will explore all options including moving High Court on the issue. He said that protection of students’ rights will be top of the agenda of the government.
Speaking to the media at the chief minister’s camp office on Wednesday, Sajjala said that the government would approach the High Court to ensure the culprits get punished as the issue pertains to the future of millions of students. “Naidu and his party leaders should come out in open whether they wanted to support the malpractices and mass copying during the examinations? Their support to the kingpin of malpractices shows that they are least bothered about future of the students,” Sajjala fumed.

He said that TDP leaders initially demanded action against the culprits when a few people tried to leak question papers during the SSC annual examinations and started shouting from the roof-tops after their own leader getting caught in the scandal. Brushing aside the opposition’s allegations that the government is being vindictive, Sajjala said that they would have implicated the TDP leaders long back had they wanted to take revenge. He said that Narayana was arrested only based on the evidence and confessional statements issued by the arrested accused. He wondered about magistrate hearing the bail petition in the wee hours to grant bail to Narayana. “Technically, Narayana might not be the chairperson of the institutions. However, he has been managing the institutions directly and every decision in the group is being taken by Narayana. Will TDP people remain silent if the police arrest Narayana’s son-in-law who is the present chairman if police arrest him tomorrow?,” asked Sajjala.

He said that the government has taken immediate action and arrested P Narayana after a thorough investigation, unlike the previous government which turned blind eye on such matters. In order to secure a 100 percent pass percentage, a mafia is committing irregularities as an organized crime ruining the students’ future and the law will take its own course and punish the accused, he said. Sajjala criticized TDP leaders for making hue and cry about the arrest as if Narayana is a freedom fighter and social worker. He said that Narayana was the main culprit for the suffering of several generations of students in Telugu states. He said that several hundreds of students committed suicides due to the pressure exerted by the institutions in the guise of ranks and marks.
