CHENNAI: A wall collapse killed a construction worker and left another worker injured at Tirusulam near Meenambakkam on Monday. The deceased worker Sekar, 55, was engaged by his relative Subramani, 62, of Uzhaipalar Nagar in Moovarasampattu, to demolish his house. The two workers were in the process of demolishing the compound wall on Monday when a portion of the wall collapsed, resulting in the duo getting buried underneath the debris. Several onlookers rescued the two workers along with the help of other residents. They rushed them to a private hospital and later shifted them to the Government Hospital at Chromepet, where doctors examined and declared Sekar dead on arrival. Subramani has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at a private hospital. The Palavanthangal police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
