Second round of RTE admissions to be held from May 12 to 14

AHMEDABAD: The state education department on Tuesday announced the second round of admissions in Class 1 under the Right to Education Act 2009 (RTE). The second round will be conducted from May 12 to 14. In the first round 64,456 students were given admissions of which 53,387 students had confirmed their admissions in the state while 18,028 seats remained vacant. These seats will be filled during the second round. The state government had 71,154 seats made available under RTE in 9,957 schools across the state.

This year, 1.93 lakh forms were filled in the state of which 1.76 lakh applications were accepted while 16,629 were rejected because of the lack of necessary documents or wrongly uploaded documents. This was the highest number of forms submission ever in the state after RTE came into effect.
The students who wish to get admissions in the second round will have to log in to the official RTE website using their application number and date of birth and choose their preferences for school for admissions. After submission of the school choice they will have to take a printout of the page. This printout is not needed to be submitted to the receiving centers, a statement from the state education department stated.

This year, the last date for submitting forms online was April 11 and after that the parents who had made mistakes in submitting forms for their wards were given a three-day time to correct the mistakes. Around 11,000 forms were corrected during this three-day period, sources said.


As many as 70,000 children of economically poor families will be given admission. The government gives a grant of maximum Rs 13,000 per child to private schools for admitting them under RTE rule.
