DIBRUGARH: The NSCN (K-YA) on Tuesday released Napho Boham, the village headman (gaonburah) of Lauksim village of Arunachal Pradesh's Longding district from their captivity. On May 7, Napho Nigam was abducted by five armed NSCN (K-YA) cadres in combat attire.
Longding SP Vikram Harimohan Meena confirmed the safe release of Nigam from the clutches of the insurgent group. "The hostage was found in visibly good health and has been sent for medical check-up," the SP said.
According to sources, the NSCN (K-YA) cadres had taken him to the jungles in the vicinity of Jaboka village in Nagaland's Mon district.
A day earlier, hundreds of local youths carrying placards had taken out a march against the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) at Longding demanding unconditional release of the gaonburah.
