KOTA: At least four persons, including three women, were killed on the spot and 13 others injured after a tractor–trolley with around 18 to 20 members of a
marriage party overturned after being hit by a trailer-truck from behind on NH-27 under
Baran Sadar police station on Tuesday. The party was returning home to Hanuwatkheda village after the wedding ceremony in Batawda village of the district on Monday night, police said.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took to Twitter and expressed his grief over the deaths and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured. The mishap occurred at around 6.30am in the morning. The trailer, loaded with around 7-8 tractors, was travelling at a high speed when it hit the trolley from behind, said
SHO Rajesh Khatana.
Following the accident, four members of the wedding party, identified as Bhuribai (65), Chandrakala (55), Sushila (40) and Ramkaran Sain (60), all residents of Hanuwatkheda village under Anta police station of Baran district, were killed on the spot, while 13 others, including men, women and children, sustained injuries, he said.
Trailer driver detained After receiving an alert, the police reached the spot and rushed the injured to Baran district hospital where the doctors declared four dead and referred two critically injured persons to a hospital in Kota. Eleven other injured are undergoing treatment at the Baran hospital, he said.
Tractor–trolley driver Naresh Meena, who had a miraculous escape, stated that the trailer had run over people who had fallen on the road from the overturned vehicle and crossed the divider and gone to the other side.
Police have detained the driver of the trailer and lodged a case under various sections. The four bodies were handed over to family members after post-mortem and further investigation has begun into the matter, the SHO said.

Narendra Gupta also rushed to the spot and arranged for medical facilities at the hospital.
