Woman dies as metal sheet falls on her

Krishnagiri: A 42-year-old woman died after a metal sheet placed on a roof fell on her while she was washing cloths near Uthankarai in Krishnagiri district on Monday evening.
The Singarapettai police identified the deceased as R Pachaiammal from Kombampatty. She was a housewife.
The woman’s husband went out for a work in the morning. “Around 4pm, when Pachaiammal was washing cloths, there was a strong wind accompanied by a heavy rain. A metal sheet placed on the roof to stop water leaking into the house got detached in the wind and fell on her head. She suffered grave injuries and died on the spot,” a police officer said.
Neighbours informed police about the incident. Police reached the spot and retrieved the body and sent it to the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College for the postmortem. tnn
