LUCKNOW: A professor of Hindi Department of Lucknow University (LU)was accused of making indecent and disagreeable remarks on Kashi Vishwanath and saints in a video.
A student of LU, Aman Dubey of Sidharth Nagar and an inmate of Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) hostel lodged a case with the police.
In his complaint, Dubey said the professor was heard speaking foul against the temple and saints who are the base of Indian culture. "His act hurt the sentiments of Hindu students and he also attempted to vitiate the harmony of the University. When he was confronted by the students after the video was leaked, the professor called goons/musclemen who attempted to assault the protesters," Dubey alleged.
He said the video was viral on social media and this had dented the image of the Lucknow University. "I therefore request the police to register a case in this connection and take preventive measures," he said.
ADCP, North Zone, Prachi Singh said that the professor has been charged under the act of promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place, statements conducing to public mischief, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace and IT act.
