NEW DELHI: Delhi police will probe the case which was registered on the complaint of a woman who alleged that she was sexually assaulted by
Rohit Joshi, the son of
Rajasthan cabinet minister
Mahesh Joshi.
Police said the 23-year-old complainant on Sunday had visited Sadar Bazar police station along with her mother and filed a complaint of alleged
sexual assault.
Following this, the Delhi police had registered a zero FIR on Sunday under sections 376, 328, 312, 366, 377,506 and 509 of the IPC and said they would transfer the case to women's police station in Sawai Madhopur.
"We had earlier registered a zero FIR, but now the process has been started to convert the same into a regular FIR," a police officer said.
The complainant came in touch with Rohit Joshi through a social media platform. On January 8, 2021, she went to Sawai Madhopur along with the suspect and his friends where she was given juice laced with sedatives. The accused then sexually assaulted her without her consent.
More assault allegations made by the woman: Cop“She a lso a lleged that she went with Rohit Joshi to a hotel in Sadar Bazar in March 2022 where he had sexual relationship with her,” the officer said, adding that more allegations of sexual assault in Jaipur and other places have been made by the woman.
Police said Rohit had his last physical relationship with her on April 17, 2022, at a hotel in Jaipur. Later, when she called him, he would threaten her and say that nobody could do anything to him as he was the son of a minister.
An officer said she has been counselled and medically examined at the Hi ndu Rao Hospital. Since the alleged sexual assault took place in the jurisdiction of Sadar Bazar police station, the local police are investigating the case, police said.
Meanwhile, cops have also received an affidavit purportedly written by the woman, in which she admits to having a no-strings-attached relationship with Rohit since 2020.
