AHMEDABAD: After finding 24 Covid cases over a period of three days at the
National Institute of Design (NID) campus in
Paldi, a team from
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation carried out mass testing on Monday.
According to officials, 495 tests were conducted, of which three tested positive. However, officials said that as most were RT-PCR tests, more results are expected to arrive on Tuesday. In all, 662 persons on campus were tested. Most ofthose who tested positive were from the hostels on campus. As a result, the hostel has been declared a micro-containment zone.
“A total of 27 positive cases have been reported so far, of which 24 are undergraduate students living on campus. The others are three post graduate students staying outside the campus. All the students have mild symptoms,” said
Rekha Nair, registrar of NID.
She added that all Covid-positive students have been shifted to the isolation wing and are being provided all necessary amenities and food. “All protocols suggested by the
AMC are being followed. All in-person classes have been suspended until further notice. However, classes are continuing in online mode. The institute is closely monitoring the situation and students will be updated about the developments soon,” she added.
