Hubballi: All materials used for the various projects will now be tested for quality at the
Quality Testing Centre established by
Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City Limited.
The authorities used to spend .05% of the total project cost on quality testing of any project products such as cement concrete roads, asphalt work, and others. Quality testing costs can be reduced with the assistance of this lab. Currently, the
HDSCL and other government agencies are receiving quality testing from private agencies; however, this will change and all quality testing will be performed in the HDSCL Quality Testing Centre.
The laboratory was set up at a cost of Rs 85 lakh, said
CW Shakeel Ahmed, Managing Director of HDSCL. Currently, the laboratory will be used to test the quality of materials used in various government projects.
"We have applied for
ISO certification, which we expect to receive in three months, and later in nine months of laboratory operation, we will receive another certification with which we can even start to give reports for private projects, which will help to generate revenue," he said.
“With this laboratory we can now test cement used for the project in standard consistency, initial final setting time, soundness test, compression time among others,” he added.
