10 ways to break your child's screen addiction

Parents, in trying to keep their kids occupied, introduce them to phones or television, without thinking of the consequences. However, because they're now hooked to the screens, you must have a good alternative, a plan of action to substitute their addiction to screens.

Create things to do list

Prepare a schedule and accordingly plan the things your kids can do in a day. Make sure they're productive and learn new things.

Be firm

Once you make up your mind to break your child's screen addiction, do not falter and give in to their tantrums.

Help your child understand

Instead of chiding your kid and letting hell break loose, teach your child what screen addiction is and why it is bad for them.

As a parent, you must also refrain from your gadgets or your child may question you.

Keep phones and gadgets out of sight

It is important that you distance your child from technological devices and television. Keep it out of sight so it is out of their minds too.

Set play times, do yoga or any other forms of exercise with them or make time for a reading session. This will keep them engaged, energetic and intrigued, respectively.

Sometimes when nothing works, a reward may just do the trick. But make sure what you offer is good for your child and helps him or her become better.

Experts recommend no screen time for kids until they reach between 18-24 months. Therefore, make sure you do not introduce them to screens until it's time.
