Noida: A 23-year-old medical intern from Delhi allegedly immolated herself at a park in Noida’s Sector 93A on Wednesday. Police suspect the woman, a resident of
Greater Kailash in the national capital, was suffering from depression.
“We received information about the incident around 4.30pm. A police team immediately rushed to the spot and later forensic experts also reached there,” a senior officer told TOI.
A suicide note, purportedly written by the woman, was found at the spot. “The note claimed that she was ending her life as she was upset over a mental health condition. It appears that she was suffering from depression,” he said.
“We also recovered an empty bottle of diesel, a purse and a mobile phone. We are trying to find out the reason as to why she came to Noida. Further investigation is underway,” the official said.
In another case of suspected suicide, a woman was found found hanging from the ceiling fan of her house in Barola village. The woman lived alone as her husband is working in
Uttarakhand.
“We got a call on Dial 112 emergency helpline number after which cops reached the spot and found the body. The woman hailed from Bihar. Her husband currently works with a private company in
Haridwar,” the officer said.
Police have not found any suicide note from the spot and “details of what triggered her to take the extreme step are yet to be ascertained”, he said. “We have informed the family members of both the deceased and initiated legal proceedings,” the officer added.
