Mangaluru: A J Institute of Management, the ministry of education and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, along with
Athikaribettu and Balkunje grama panchayats, jointly organised the inaugural programme of
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, at
Athikaribettu GP recently.
Umanatha Kotian, MLA of Mulki-Moodabidri constituency, in his inaugural address, mentioned that the central government is developing a number of new programmes for the development of rural India, and that students from higher educational institutions must be a part of these projects. “Students should contribute to the development of villages, by recognising the concerns and obstacles that villagers face,” he added. Manohar Kotyan, president of Athikaribettu GP, lauded A J Institute for adopting five villages of Athikaribettu and Balkuje GPs. T Jayapraksh Rao, director of the institute, said villages were a nation’s soul, and that their growth will lead to the nation’s progress. He also outlined the central government’s flagship programme’s objective, and asked the villagers to join the programme, and provide their cooperation in future activities.
