Coimbatore: Two unidentified people kidnapped a 25-year-old youth and used his
PhonePe credentials to purchase 72,500 worth gold ornamnets in the city on Monday night. After the purchase, they let him off and returned his phone too.

Shiyam Kumar, lodged a complaint with the Peelamedu police regarding the incident on Tuesday.
In his complaint, Shiyam Kumar said on Monday night, he was on his way to meet his friend on a two-wheeler. On FCI Road, he gave lift to a person. When that person got off at Lakshmi Nagar, another person was waiting for them. “Both of them snatched his mobile phone and got his PhonePe account credentials. One of them took his two-wheeler and mobile phone and returned after some time. Subsequently, they let him off and returned his mobile phone and two-wheeler,” the complaint said.
When Shiyam Kumar reached his home, he saw a message that 72,500 from his account was spent in a jewellery store at
Hopes. Police are yet to arrest the robbers in the case. A detailed inquiry to find out the identities of the robbers was underway.
