Ranchi: Top People Liberation Front of India (PLFI) extremist Laka
Pahan was killed in an encounter with the state police in a forest near Kota village under
Murhu Police Station of Khunti district on Wednesday morning.
Pahan, who was recently promoted as PLFI’s south Chhotanagpur zonal committee secretary, was accused in 61 cases registered at various police stations of Ranchi, Khunti, and West Singhbhum districts.

Amol Homkar said, “Acting on a tip-off, officer in-charge of Murhu PS Vikrant Kumar led a search operation in the wee hours of Wednesday. The PLFI squad opened fire on the police, forcing the latter to retaliate. The body of Pahan along with a country-made pistol and cartridges was found during the search operation.”
Khunti SP Aman Kumar, who reached the spot with reinforcement, termed Pahan’s death as a big blow to the PLFI. Search operation is underway to track the PLFI members who fled away.
