AGRA: Former Samajwadi Party MLA Viresh Yadav on Wednesday surrendered before a court in Aligarh in an alleged attempt to murder case of 1997 and 1998 and was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
Additional district government council Kuldeep
Tomar told TOI that two cases are pending against Viresh Yadav under
IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) in MP/MLA court. Both FIRs were registered against him at Dado police station in 1997 and 1998 by
Shiv Kumar and Darshan
Singh Yadav respectively.
Tomar said that despite several orders, Viresh Yadav did not appear in the court in both cases in the past 25 years. “Today he surrendered before MP/MLA court after the court issued orders of attachment of his property last month and wrote to the SSP to implement it and arrest the accused for being produced in the court on May 7,” he said.
Giving details about the case against Yadav, Tomar said that Darshan Singh had filed an FIR against Viresh Yadav in 1998 after he was attacked by him, as he was a
BJP supporter. Darshan Singh’s rifle was snatched by Viresh.
Meanwhile, Yadav’s advocate has applied for a bail for his client. The court has fixed May 9 for hearing the bail application. Yadav has been three times MLA— two times from Gangiri and once from Atrauli constituency.
