Panchkula: Woman held for running abortion centre

PANCHKULA: A day after registering an FIR against an illegal abortion centre in Sector 17 on Tuesday, Panchkula police arrested a woman in the case.
ACP Aman Kumar, in-charge, Panchkula Crime Branch said that the arrested woman who conducted the illegal abortion has been identified as Sarita Kaushal, a resident of Sector 11. She had been running an NGO for the last five years and also had a naturopathy clinic in Sector 17.
Police also recovered vials, allopathy medicines and surgical gloves from her clinic. The accused was produced in a local court and sent to judicial custody. On Monday, Panchkula CMO received information about a patient reporting to PGIMER with multiple organ failure due to septic abortion.
