The curtains on the India-spec Citroen C3 hatchback are all set to be raised in June 2022. It will be Citroen’s first mass-market offering for India after the more premium and expensive C5 Aircross. The C3 hatchback will be a petrol-only offering and is expected to go on sale soon after that.
The C3 will boast typical Citroen flair and wear a set of clothes with the right amount of style. A tinge of C5 Aircross can be seen at the front, where the grille and split headlight setup seem to be inspired by the SUV. A dash of body cladding gives it a rugged look, while the rear end is rounded off with simple taillights.
The main standout element will be its colour choices and you’ll be able to mix and match different hues.
Things are much more simple and straightforward on the inside. Once again, you can jazz up the centre trim on the dashboard with pre-defined hues. Plus, Citroen says this will be a practical cabin with plenty of storage spaces and a large boot. You can explore the SUV-inspired hatchback by taking a look at our image gallery.
In terms of features, the hatch has its basics covered with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted audio controls, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, manual air-con, and keyless entry. Passenger safety should be taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
Powertrain specifications of the India-spec hatchback are still under wraps. We suspect it to be 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol engines, paired with manual and automatic transmissions. There won’t be a diesel engine on offer.
The Citroen C3 is likely to be priced from Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it against the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
