Coimbatore: The Railway Suppliers Association (Rasa) has urged the railway board to withdraw an option clause that allows suppliers to furnish additional 30% orders at same prices. Micro and small units suffered a heavy loss to supply original quantity due to the abnormal raw materials price increase, Rasa president S Surulivel said in a letter to railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. “It would be merciless to pelt suppliers with the implementation of the 30% quantity option clause. We take order of all railway parts such as point machine spares, motors, compressors castings and forgings. It is not in the interest of the members as they are bound to supply the additional 30% orders on the same prices offered during the preceding year,” he said.TNN
