Uttar Pradesh: Three criminals injured in police encounter in Prayagraj

PRAYAGRAJ: Three members of an inter-state dacoit gang involved in loot and murder cases in trans Ganga pocket sustained injuries and arrested during a police encounter near Tharwai area in Prayagraj district in wee hours of Wednesday.
"A police team had an encounter with an inter-state gang of dacoits in trans Ganga area and three of them were injured in exchange of fire," said SSP (Prayagraj) Ajay Kumar.
He added police have arrested a total of seven members of the inter-state gang.
SSP claimed that the arrested gang members were involved in Gohri loot and murder ( Phaphamau) and Khebrajpur dacoity and murder ( Tharwai) incidents.
In Gohri incident, four members of a family were brutally killed by dacoits in the limits of Phaphamau police station in trans Ganga in the intervening night of November 21 and 22, 2021.
In Khebrajpur incident, five of a family members were allegedly killed by dacoits in their house under the limits of Tharwai police station in the intervening night of April 22 and 23.
SSP has announced a cash prize of Rs 25,000 for the police team.
