Loudspeaker row: Respect all religions, says Nitish Kumar

PATNA: Amidst growing controversy over the use of loudspeakers at religious places, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said every person should respect each other’s religion.
“We wish that there should be an atmosphere of love and brotherhood in the society. ‘Sabhi ek dusre ki izzat kare’ (All people should give due regard to each other),” Nitish said while interacting with media persons after attending the mass prayers on the occasion of Eid at the sprawling Gandhi maidan here on Tuesday.
The CM also said that in this country there are many people who follow a certain faith and they act according to their faith. People of other faiths and religions should respect the religious acts of certain faiths.
Earlier the CM attended mass prayer (namaz) at the Gandhi maidan and wished for continuance of love and brotherhood in the society.
He further expressed happiness over the fact that a large number of people turned up at the Gandhi maidan to participate in the mass prayers (namaz) after two years of Covid-19 pandemic. “For two years, people could not come here (Gandhi Maidan) due to Covid-19. I am very glad that again on the occasion of Eid this year, a large number of people have turned up,” the CM said.
Earlier, Nitish met Maulana Mahsood Ahmad Qadri Nadvi during the mass prayers and exchanged Eid greetings with him.
After attending the main event at Gandhi maidan, Nitish later visited different parts of the state capital and met important people of Muslim community.
The important religious place where the CM visited on the occasion of Eid were Khanqah Mujibia, Phulwari Sharif, Emarat-E-Sharia, Phulwari Sharif, Edar-E-Sharia, Sultanganj, Khankah-E-Munimia, Mittan Ghat, Patna City and the Khanqah-Bargah-E-Ishq, Takiya Sharif, Mittan Ghat.
