At 170, Noida sees most new cases since Feb 4

Noida: Gautam Budh Nagar reported 170 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, the highest since February 4 when the district recorded 233 cases, after which the cases remained under 170. The number of active cases is 741 now.
The district has been reporting 100 and above cases since April 19.
More than two weeks ago, the health department sent samples for genome sequencing to Delhi. However, officials told TOI that the results are not in yet. Genome sequencing will help identify the Covid-19 variant causing the most infections currently.
After Noida, Ghaziabad reported the maximum new cases in the state at 74. The active cases in Ghaziabad reached 348 on Tuesday after the fresh additions.
Meanwhile, Lucknow reported 13 new cases and Meerut 11.
Among the 74 cases in Ghaziabad, four Covid-positive patients were under 12 years of age and five under 20.
On Tuesday, Ghaziabad collected 4,000 samples for Covid testing and reported a sample positivity rate of 1.89%. Over 272 patients are currently recovering in home isolation in the district.
Data released by the district health officials showed that while the number of schools and colleges where students and teachers have tested positive has reached 82, 26 teachers have tested positive so far. On Tuesday, eight more students tested positive, bringing the total number of such students to 152.
In terms of vaccination, GB Nagar administered 1,017 doses on Tuesday and Ghaziabad 1,012.
