Ludhiana: The Ficci Flo women’s club organised a day trip to Kartarpur Sahib on Tuesday and called it “a visit of reverence”. The historical Sikh gurdwara of Kartarpur Sahib lies across the border in Pakistan. It is the holy place where the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev, spent his final years. The 80 women on this pilgrimage also partook of langar. Club chairperson Neha Gupta said: "Guru Nanak Dev composed many hymns, including the Japji Sahib, at Kartarpur Sahib. These hymns are included in Guru Granth Sahib, sacred book of the Sikhs. The foundation stone of the gurdwara at Kartarpur Sahib was laid in 1572 and Maharaja Ranjit Singh covered its dome with gold. The present structure was built by the maharaja of Patiala, in 1925."
