Gurgaon: The city reported 384 new Covid cases on Tuesday. After recording a positivity rate of less than 10% for the last two days, it again increased to 11.3% on Tuesday. The health department officials, however, said that the free-of-cost booster doses for those in the age group of 18 to 59 years at the government sites will begin from Wednesday.
The number of active cases also rose to 1,732 on Tuesday, of whom 17 are hospitalised and remaining are in home isolation. The health department officials said 3,409 people have been tested in the last 24 hours.
“The number of new cases for now are stable since the city is reporting less than 400 new Covid-19 cases daily,” an official said.
“Following the directions of the state government, we will start free booster doses for the recipients in the age group of 18 to 59 years at the government sites from Wednesday. Those eligible should come forward and get vaccinated since vaccination provides protection against the virus,” said Dr
Virender Yadav, chief medical officer.
Dr MP Singh, district immunisation officer, said that around 38 session sites at government institutions will be set up where a minimum of 100 slots each will be available for booster doses on Wednesday.
“There should be a minimum gap of nine months between the second dose and the booster dose. The beneficiaries can walk-in to one of these 38 sites on Wednesday and show their certificate or message of second dose and get vaccinated for free,” added Dr Singh.
Since the government session sites were not set up on Tuesday, a total of 1,951 people got vaccinated at the 25 private session sites. Out of these, the maximum number of beneficiaries were in the age group of 18 to 59 who got their booster doses at the private healthcare institutions.
Hry records 505 new casesThe state on Tuesday reported 505 new cases and 412 recoveries, while only three districts managed to retain the Covid-free tag. Increased cases pushed the positivity rate to 5.1%. There was no Covid death reported during the day. After Gurgaon, Faridabad dominated the tally with 96 new cases.
