The Lahaul-Spiti administration on Monday allowed light vehicles and bikes on the road
MANALI: The Gramphu-Kaza highway, which connects Manali and Lahaul valley with Spiti via 15,000-feet-high Kunzum Pass, has been reopened after a gap of six months. The road has been reopened in early May by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for the first time as the region had very less snow.
The Lahaul-Spiti administration on Monday allowed light vehicles and bikes on the road. However, heavy vehicles, including buses and trucks, will not be allowed until next order. Besides local residents, tourists can also travel on the highway. The administration has also made it clear that traffic movement can be stopped in case of bad weather conditions.
The highway, which connects Manali-Leh highway with Hindustan-Tibet road, was closed since October.
