Vijaykumar
Kodialbail, one of the actors in the film, said there was not much profit to be earned when a film is screened in one or two theatres. “There is some profit when a film is screened in multiple theatres. The competition resulted in loss of revenue. For example, earlier each theatre had total revenue of Rs 2 lakh and over the years due to competition, some movie producers were offering it for less than Rs 50,000. There are instances of screening movies for free of cost.”
OTT yet to take offKodialbail, when asked why the OTT platform created in Dakshina Kannada to target youngsters and expats had failed to make impact, said that two or more OTT players in the industry had come with the platform during the pandemic.
“The platform has not been able to attract viewers. The reasons are multiple, such as theatre feel and non-availability of the latest movies. Despite no takers, one of the OTT platforms has continued to invest heavily in the industry and expects to take off in the coming days,” he said.
