Tangedco detects six cases of energy theft in Chennai

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has busted six energy theft cases in Avadi in Chennai and levied a fine of Rs 42.38 lakh to compensate for the loss incurred by it.
Officials said the Chennai west enforcement division of TANGEDCO held a drive earlier this week and found energy theft in various localities of Avadi.
“The consumers have accepted the violation and chosen to pay the fine. Hence, no police case has been registered,” officials said.
