Vijayapura: “Farmers’ debt, not their income, has doubled under Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said former chief minister Siddaramaiah in Vijayapura on Monday.
The leader of the opposition in the assembly, who inaugurated the Yatri Nivas in Sangapur SH Village in Babaleshwar taluk in Vijayapura, said that mere verbal assurances about completion of irrigation projects were not enough. “If the Congress comes to power, we will complete all pending projects in the state. In the run-up to the 2013 elections, we had promised to allocate Rs 10,000 crore for the Upper Krishna Project. We fulfilled our promise by disbursing Rs 50,000 crore,” Siddaramaiah said.
