RAJKOT: The traffic on Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway was disrupted for several hours after Sunday midnight following an accident that left four friends dead near Limbdi and a massive ammonia leak from a tanker that overturned near Bamanbore.
The accident occurred near Katariya village on the highway when the car that took the wrong side on the highway collided head-on with a private bus coming from the opposite direction at around 2:15am on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Sagar Vaishnav (27), Anil chauhan (25),
Sandeep Jotania (25) and
Imran Sama (24), all residents of Kothariya Road in Rajkot. All four died on the spot while bodies and Imran, who was driving the car, and another victim, had to be removed after cutting the car.
Police said all were on way to
Rajasthan for Sagar's brother's marriage.
Two others,
Raghav Satyaprakash and
Raj Mukesh, were injured in the accident and rushed to Rajkot hospital for treatment.
Police said the traffic movement on the highway, which is being converted into six lane, was disrupted for around 30 minutes and a diversion had to be made as one side of the road is closed for the work.
