Raijor Dal, a regional political party, Kamal Kumar Medhi, and former
Congress leader
Manoj Dhanowar along with a few others joined Delhi chief minister
Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (
AAP) in New Delhi on Monday stating that the party has emerged as an alternative in Assam politics.
After joining AAP, Medhi said, “We have joined AAP to take forward the politics spearheaded by the party chief Arvind Kejriwal to safeguard the Indian Constitution and strengthen the federal structure of the country.”
Medhi, who was the general secretary of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), had joined the Congress in June 2018. Later, he resigned from the Congress on December 20, 2020, citing political differences nd joined Raijor Dal the next day.
Manoj Dhanowar, son of former Congress minister Rameswar Dhanowar, quit Congress last month. On the decision of shifting to AAP, he said, “AAP has emerged as an alternative in politics of Assam at this time when people have lost trust in political parties.”
