KALYAN: After Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (
MNS) chief
Raj Thackeray in his
Aurangabad based rally again gave the ultimatum to the state government to remove the loudspeakers from the mosque by May 3, the Muslim leaders in
Kalyan on Monday held a meeting and decided not to remove loudspeakers from mosques but said they will follow
supreme court's guidelines about maintaining decibel limit of sound.
Kasif Tanki, prominent Muslim leader and trustee of a masjid in Kalyan said, "According to the decision of the supreme court in 2005, there is no mention of removing loudspeaker. But there should be a limit to the volume. We are ready to abide by the voice limits. We will obey the law. The question of removing loudspeakers does not arise".
Tanki further said, "The loudspeaker is a political issue. The city of Kalyan is a symbol of peace. We want peace in the city and country. We are also appealing for peace."
He further said adding that, "Tomorrow is the holy day of Ramadan. It should be celebrated by all together."
Kalyan and Dombivli has over 50 mosques.
