PATNA: Mosques, Eidgahs and some designated places across the state capital have been decked up to offer namaz on the occasion of Eid, which will be celebrated on Tuesday.
Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh, along with SSP MS Dhillon and Eidan committee members, inspected the final preparations made for Eid prayer at
Gandhi Maidan on Monday. According to the administration, people will be allowed to enter the ground from gate number 5, 7 and 10, and vehicles from gate number 5 and 7. Parking of the vehicles will be done between gate number 5 and 7.
“A large number of people are expected to gather at the ground, as they had been waiting for the last two years to offer namaz in congregation. Namaz at Gandhi Maidan will start at 8am. Chief minister
Nitish Kumar is expected to take part in the prayer and greet people,” said Mahmood Alam, president of Eaidan committee.
At the historic Gulzarbagh Shahi
Eidgah, the namaz will start at 8:30am. One of the committee members of this Eidgah, Abdullah Ansari, said nearly 12,000 to 15,000 people gather here for Eid namaz. “The preparations begin from
Ramzan onwards. Be it pruning of grass or whitewashing of the walls, all have been done,” said Ansari.
At Haj Bhawan the namaz will be held here at 7am.
Meanwhile, people from Muslim community were busy in last-minute shopping. There were huge
rush at shops selling sewai and different kinds of breads like sheermal and bakarkhani in Sabzibagh. Due to overcrowding, problem of traffic jam was also reported from some areas. A Rajabazar resident, Aftab Hasan, said he had to park his vehicle near BN College to go to Sabzibagh for Eid shopping.
Rush was also seen at the shops selling dry-fruits, atar (perfume) and skull caps, besides a long queue of women to apply mehndi.
