No fresh Covid-19 cases reported in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: The Union territory of Puducherry did not report any fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending at 10am on Monday. The territory tested just 14 samples on Monday and all samples returned negative.
The total number of active cases stood at eight after one patient recovered from the infection. All eight patients - five in Puducherry, two in Yanam and one in Karaikal - are under home isolation and treatment. Mahe continues to be a Covid-19 infection-free region.
The territory had not reported any Covid-19 death since February 26. The fatality rate remained at 1.2%. The death toll remained at 1,962. Puducherry reported the maximum fatalities with 1,530 followed by Karaikal (264), Yanam (113) and Mahe (55).
The territory has so far reported 1.65 lakh cases of which 1.63 lakh patients recovered registering a recovery rate of 98.8%.
Healthcare authorities have so far tested 22.34 lakh swab samples of which 18.79 samples returned negative. They have so far administered Covid-19 vaccine to 16.87 lakh beneficiaries. They have administered the first dose to 9.64 lakh people and two doses to 7.02 lakh people and the precaution dose to 20,624. They administered the first dose to five people, the second dose to 83 people and the precaution dose to 17 people in the last 24 hours ending at 10am on Monday.
