Nine arrested for gambling, equipment, cash seized

Colva: Margao Town police busted an online gambling den in Margao and arrested two operators and seven gamblers. The police also recovered cash and equipment used for the operation, together worth Rs 2.2 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off from a reliable source, a team of police, headed by police inspector Sachin Narvekar, raided a business establishment located on the ground floor of Goa Guest House at Gandhi market in Margao, around 4.30pm on Monday.
Raju Basappa Jamuni, a resident of Margao and Darshan Naik, a resident of Curchorem, the operators of the gambling den, were nabbed red-handed along with seven players while indulging in online gambling, police said.
During the raid, police seized Rs 17,490 cash and 10 computers worth Rs 2.1 lakh.
