RAJKOT: Body of a 42-year-old man, who was missing from Botad district's Nani Paliyad village since April 26, was exhumed from a hilly area near
Chotila town of Surendranagnar on Sunday.
Police also arrested two persons
Mukesh Olakiya and
Ajay Olakiya for kidnapping and murdering the victim Ranchhod Dhoriya, who ran a small diamoond polishing unit with his younger brother
Raghu. Mukesh and
Dhoriya's cousin sister Asha got married about a year ago against the wishes of their families.
After a bitter feud, a compromise was struck and she again started visiting Dhoriya’s family
However, she committed suicide at her father’s house a few months after marriage, but Dhoriya’s family members reportedly did not inform Mukesh and conducted her final rites as Covid1-9 was at its peak, LCB police inspector A B Devdha told TOI.
Mukesh had been harbouring a grudge against Dhoriya for not letting him meet his wife for the last time.
On April 26 morning, when Dhoriya was on way to a temple, Mukesh, Ajay and one unidentified person, kidnapped him in a rickshaw and murdered him. They took the body to a hilly area of Piprali village near Chotila and buried it.
The fingers of suspicion pointed at Mukesh and Ajay and they were detained for questioning by the local police. They confessed to have murdered him. The body was exhumed and sent for postmortem.
