Mandya: A woman was killed while six persons were critically injured after getting struck by lightning in two separate incidents in Pandavapura taluk on Sunday night.
In
Olalekatte Koppalu village, a woman was struck by lightning. The victim Mastamma, who was returning from her farm along with her cow, died on the spot.
In Chinakurali village, six persons, who were standing under a tree taking shelter from rain, were struck by lightning and suffered serious burn injuries. They were shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru and their condition is said to be critical.
Extensive damageRain related damage was reported across the district as pre-monsoon rains continued in the district. Heavy damage was reported in KR Pete and Pandavapura taluks.
Extensive crop loss has been reported in several villages. In
Kurubarahalli village, the wall of a house collapsed due to heavy rain and two women identified as Nanjamma and
Lakshmamma were injured.
In Ganjigere village, a car and house were damaged as a a tree fell on them. Strong wind caused the roof of an electronic appliances shop to rip, damaging goods worth lakhs. Similar incidents were reported in Ichanahalli,
Tagadur and surrounding villages. Power supply has been affected in several villages as electric wires snapped and poles uprooted.
