Veg mandi at Bahadur Road catches fire

Ludhiana: On Sunday, a fire incident was reported in fruits and vegetable market at Bahadur K Road. The fire was reportedly started in a shanty in the premises and a LPG cylinder kept there blasted, causing the fire to spread. No one was injured, but panic gripped the area.
Officials are yet to ascertain the reason for the fire. The flames engulfed the crates kept at the side. A rehdi and bicycle were also burnt in the fire.
Usually, market is full of people, but owing to a Sunday, fewer people were present. The nearby shopkeepers tried to douse the flames on their own, but they failed. After which they called the fire brigade.
The fire brigade officials sai two fire tenders were rushed to the spot for controlling the fire, They said they managed to control the fire in about half an hour. tnn
