Man booked for rape & extortion

Ludhiana: The Sadar police have booked a Raikot resident for raping a woman for at least 10 years on the pretest of marriage as well as cheating and extorting money from her, on Sunday.
The FIR has been lodged after 17-month long enquiry.
The FIR has been lodged on the complaint of a 29-year-old woman who stated that she met the accused in 2010 as they used to work in the same office. The accused befriended her. Soon, promising marriage, the accused established physical relations with her. She alleged that the accused also extorted money from her. When she asked him to marry her, the accused refused and also refused to return her money.
She made a complaint to the police on December 9, 2020.Investigating officer, assistant sub-inspector Kulbir Raj, from Sadar police station said a case under sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating) and 384 (extortion) of IPC has been lodged. tnn
