Thiruvananthapuram: City police have held the main accused in connection with seizing crude bombs at Station Kadavu near Kazhakootam. The accused, identified as Shaji Kumar alias Sai Kumar, 31, was arrested from his hideout in Tamil Nadu. He is a resident of Poundukadavu near Attipra. Thumba police arrested him with the help of a special action group against organised crime.
Crude bombs were found on Wednesday night near Kazhakootam railway station. Railway protection force officers on patrol spotted four persons under suspicious circumstances near the railway track on Wednesday night.
They had brought crude bombs to retaliate against another gang with whom they had had a scuffle during a temple festival.
The police later held Santosh, Sulfi, Shahjahan, Nazir Rahman and Shahjahan.
The main accused Shaji Kumar had gone into hiding after his partners were held.
He has several cases, including a murder case and snatching case registered against him at Kazhakootam and Thumba stations.
