GURUGRAM: The city recorded 332 new Covid cases on Sunday, an 11.5% drop from Saturday. The new cases were 375 on Saturday. The positivity rate has also dropped to 9.8%. Earlier, the city reported less than 10% positivity rate on April 24 (9.5%).
The number of active cases has also reduced to 1,662. Of these, 12 have been hospitalised, while the remaining 1,650 are in home isolation. Meanwhile, 438 people recovered, taking the recovery tally to 2,64,437
In the last 24 hours, 3,391 people have been tested in the city. According to the health department, Gurugram saw 5,885 new cases in April, while 1,959 cases were reported in March.
“The daily cases have come down during the past two days. But we still cannot say if the cases will further decline. If the decline continues for a week, it can be taken as a downward trend. For now, people will have to be cautious, follow Covid protocols and avoid gatherings,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer (CMO).
Meanwhile, a health department official said, those eligible for booster shots should get inoculated at the earliest. Private healthcare facilities on Sunday vaccinated 2,390 people, of whom 115 were children in the age group of 12-14, while 1,535 aged between 18 and 59 years got their booster doses.
The vaccination drive was not held at government sites on Sunday. Booster doses are currently available at private healthcare facilities. According to the health department, government facilities will start giving booster doses for the 18-59 group. Once it starts at government sites, the coverage will further improve, the official said.
