Chandigarh: Winds brought some respite from the heat wave gripping the city, dropping maximum temperature dropping from Saturday’s 42.2 degrees Celsius to 37.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The weatherman has forecast mercury would not hover around the 40s for a few days, with even light rain and a dust storm likely on May 3 and 5.
This April was also the hottest in the last 12 years, with an average maximum temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius. In 2010, the average maximum temperature was Manmohan Singh, director meteorological department, told TOI, said, “The last highest average maximum temperature was recorded in 2010 at 38.9 degree Celsius. This year the actual rainfall has also decreased.”
