Deogarh MLA arrested for assaulting BDO

SAMBALPUR: Deogarh district police on Sunday arrested the Deogarh MLA, Subash Panigrahi for allegedly assaulting the Tilebani BDO of Deogarh district. The BJP legislator allegedly attacked the Tilebani BDO, Krushnachandra Dalapati on Saturday.
Deogarh district superintendent of police (SP), Rajkishore Paikray said, the MLA was apprehended from Bhubaneswar and he is being brought to Deogarh, he said.
According to the complaint, the BDO Krushnachandra Dalapati was at Chheplipali Gram Panchayat area for a joint verification when he was attacked by the BJP MLA.
Reports said, during the verification at Chheplipali Gram Panchayat area, the BDO received repeated calls from three mobile numbers between 10.30 am and 12 noon on Saturday and he was told that the MLA wanted to meet him.
Subsequently, the BDO told that he would meet the MLA after the verification. However, the MLA arrived at the spot along with more than 10 people after some time and suddenly attacked the BDO using vulgar language. They even snatched the mobile phone and official papers from the hand of the BDO and passed casteist remarks. They also kicked the BDO, following which the BDO became unconscious for some time. The colleagues of the BDO rescued him from the MLA and his supporters.
On the other hand, talking to the media on Saturday, the BJP legislator, who has also lodged a written complaint against the BDO at the Deogarh police station, refuted the allegation made against him.
“It is a baseless and false allegation. An argument had taken place with the BDO at Chheplipali area. The BDO misbehaved me and even threatened to kill me. Following the incident, we came back from there and I immediately lodged a case against the BDO at the police station after facing the misbehavior. However, the BDO fabricated a story and lodged a case 3 hours to 4 hours after I lodged the case against him,” the MLA told the media.
