Coimbatore: An unidentified person made an employee unconscious using chloroform and stole 2.32 lakh from a chit company at Nava India on Saturday night.
The employee of the company, K Boominathan, 35, in his complaint, said he was alone in the company on 5th Street of STV Nagar. Around 9.30pm, a man entered the company and made inquiries about chit schemes. “He suddenly took a kerchief and placed it on my nose. When I woke up again, I found 2.32 lakh was missing from the office,” Boominathan said.
The next day, he lodged a complaint with the Singanallur police, who registered a case under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code.
A police officer said there were seven CCTV cameras in and outside the chit fund company. “We have collected footage and seeing them. The circumstance under which the robbery had taken place is questionable. However, we have registered a case based on the information submitted through a petition.”
