Ullal police have arrested a man on the charges of illegally entering the room where women offer namaz at Tokkottu Huda
Jumma Masjid, Permannuru village, on the outskirts of the city. He allegedly flashed his private parts at women.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said on Saturday, that the arrested accused is Sujith Shetty,23, from
Nitte in Karkala.
He is accused of indecently behaving with women, who had gathered at the
mosque for a religious programme. A 24-year-old complainant noticed the accused, when she was at the mosque with two other women and girls. He illegally entered the room reserved for women to perform namaz, and misbehaved with the girls, and flashed his private parts.
It is learnt that the accused was allegedly serving as a Home Guard in Udupi district and was suspended in 2018 after he posted selfies with girls.
A case has been registered under
IPC sections 448 (trespass), 354 (assault or uses criminal force against woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class, by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).
