Patna: Amid scare of the fourth wave of
Covid 19 pandemic, all government hospitals and medical colleges in the state capital have made arrangements of beds equipped with oxygen and medicines to face any challenge, in case the number of infected patients surges and they require hospitalisation.
The Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) has created a special ward and reserved 35 beds for Covid-19 patients. It has also begun assigning duty to doctors and paramedics though there was no such patient admitted to it, till Saturday, according to its medical superintendent Dr IS
Thakur.
“As per the government directives, we are in a state of full preparedness with all medical facilities, including monitoring system, to keep a watch on patients’ medical condition,” he said.
Similarly, Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) has made all arrangements to tackle any
Covid situation. “Eight beds for Covid patients and 20 beds for those to be kept in isolation after being tested positive have been reserved and accordingly equipped with medical appliances,” said its director
Dr Bibhuti P Sinha. He further said if there is a sudden increase in the number of patients, more beds will be ready within a short time. The hospital, few days ago, also made RTPCR test mandatory for patients before taking up any new surgery.
Meanwhile, Dr Sinha on Saturday inaugurated a new emergency lab with modern equipment for non-covid patients.
At Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), the Covid ward is still functional as it was never shut. “After serving twice as dedicated Covid hospital, NMCH neither closed its 106-bed Covid ward nor discontinued the roster for Covid duty,” said Dr Satish Kumar, deputy superintendent of the hospital.
