Vadodara: The Baroda University Teachers Association (
BUTA) has demanded that MS University should not process voluntary retirement of its ex vice-chancellor (VC) professor Parimal
Vyas in view of the inquiry conducted by
Gujarat government in the alleged recruitment scam.
On Friday, the association made a representation before MSU’s current VC stating that during his tenure, Vyas had come up with recruitment notification which allegedly was not in line with the University Grants Commission and also the All India Council for Technical Education norms.
“We as an association have approached the Gujarat high court, which issued notices to the VC and the registrar in September 2019 to give a submission. But till date neither the VC nor the legal department have submitted their submission to the court notice,” said BUTA president Dr K V R Murthy.
BUTA office-bearers said that their fears that the appointments were not happening as per guidelines came true in 2022 when a few syndicate members raised their voice which led to a complaint before Gujarat government.
Vyas was also issued a show-cause notice. “As there is no clear guideline from the government on prof Vyas being innocent or there is any clarity on the inquiry done by Gujarat government, we request you not to forward the application for voluntary requirement,” the office-bearers said.
“If any process is pursued at your end regarding forwarding of voluntary retirement scheme, BUTA, in line with previous special civil application in Gujarat High Court, may approach appropriate legal forum regarding the same,” the association also issued a warning.
