Stalled for over two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, toy train services in Pune parks and garden are all set to make a comeback ahead of the summer vacations.

“We have opened all civic gardens for public. They are already getting good response due to increasing temperature and vacations of schools. Unfortunately, the toy trains in five of our gardens are shut for the last two years due to the pandemic and it is disappointing for children visiting those gardens,” said Ashok Ghorpade, Garden Superintendent of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Ghorpade said the vehicle depot of PMC has been asked to start the toy trains as early as possible in the wake of the approaching school vacations.

“The PMC has undertaken the maintenance and repair of Toy trains. They (the trains) were shut for two years due to the pandemic and there was a need to get them in good condition before use. All the five toy trains will start in the next few days,” said Maheshkumar Doiphode, Deputy Municipal Commissioner incharge of civic vehicle depot.
