Commissioner takes over CMC as administrator

Chandrapur: The five-year term of office bearers and corporators of Chandrapur Municipal Corporation (CMC) came to end on Friday.
Civic commissioner Rajesh Mohite will take charge as administrator of the CMC from Saturday. The corporation will remain under administrator rule till next civic election, that are withheld over political reservation issue of OBC, are completed.
While the last meeting of standing committee was held on Thursday, CMC office-bearers avoided holding general body meeting for the month of April. There were some hurried sanctions allocated to development works in the last standing committee meeting. The corporators too were seen pushing for completion of the development works underway in their ward during the last few weeks.
After the elections held in April 2017, BJP’s Anjali Ghotekar had taken charge as new mayor of city on April 30, 2017. Her tenure lasted for two and half years. Rakhi Kancharlwar took over as mayor for next two and half year. Her term, along with all the corproators, came to an end on Friday.
